I swore off superhero movies after Ironman 2. Even then, I wasn't really big on them. I didn't watch any of the 80s-90s Batman and Superman (or anything else).
But I do remember, c. 2000, at the the first Lord of the Rings movie, seeing a preview for the first Toby Maguire Spider-Man and thinking "wow, that looks really fun!". I enjoyed that and the next one. I think Ironman 1 & 2 were the only others I watched, and after that, I swore them off.
So I was extra-gratified in this NPR segment to hear the man who wrote a book called , I Hate All Superhero Films: A 900-Page Opus, say that superhero movies peaked around the second Toby Maguire Spider-Man.
